MEET YOU BY THE RIVER

VISION

Jacksonville’s downtown riverfront is envisioned as a world-class destination: a vibrant, interconnected network of parks that unite neighborhoods, celebrate the river, and offer welcoming spaces to gather, enjoy nature, and build community. More than green space, these public spaces are a catalyst for economic growth, cultural vitality, healthy living, and resilience—supporting a thriving, dynamic city now and for generations to come.

Mission

The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to stewarding a bold vision for downtown Jacksonville’s riverfront through the implementation, activation, and enhancement of a world-class system of parks and public spaces.

Momentum

In early 2025, a Steering Committee was established with a diverse group of leaders from local government, business, nonprofit organizations, and community. This steering committee led the formation of the Jax Riverfront Alliance to serve as the operating partner responsible for maintaining, operating, and activating all of our downtown riverfront parks and public spaces to the highest standard.

Public Private Partnership

The steering committee studied best practices from successful cities like Miami, Sarasota, Dallas, and Memphis and tailored them to Jacksonville’s unique needs. Their recommendation was a clear, actionable solution: a public-private partnership between the City and the Jax Riverfront Alliance to serve as a dedicated stewards for the riverfront—a trusted model in other cities but the first of its kind in Jacksonville.

The High Line Network

The Jacksonville Riverfront is a member of the High Line Network, a community of peer nonprofit organizations representing industrial reuse projects, urban parks and public spaces.
